But within its depths lurks a shadow, a deceptive lure that promises glory at the cost of souls. They say those who drown in its current are forever consumed by the stream's grip, their lives forever corrupted into a bitter melody.
When the Tanks Burst
On January 15th, 1919, Boston witnessed a disaster unlike any other. A massive tank filled with molasses burst open in the city's North End, unleashing a wave of sticky sweetness that crashed through the streets like a tsunami. The flood, soaring to 25 feet in some areas, was horrifying. Buildings were flattened under the power of the unstoppable goo.
The aftermath was grim. Twenty-one people lost their lives, and many more sustained wounds. The flood also caused ruin to property, leaving a trail of sticky residue in its wake.

The city/Officials/Local authorities are working to clean up/contain/investigate the sticky situation, but until then, Boston is left navigating/scrambling/dealing with this sticky/treacherous/tacky predicament.
